Mars Corporation: The Chief Operating Officer

Mars Corporation is the company that has kept on expressing our own originalities. Just declaring is so easy, but in fact, to keep on raising our own style in the establishment is really difficult. At first, we formed the system that we could do so. Although other companies usually start their business based on their original products, we determined to make the concrete system of company as our starting point. We arranged the sixteen percents rule; the employees can act on their personal testes in sixteen percents of business hours. For example, I designed the establishment of T-shirts original brand in this hour and started 'Mars16' that always seeks possibilities on every factor; designs, concepts, collaborations, and so on. This project from sixteen percents rule was permitted to establish as the one of business departments and became the center part of my work hours. Employees are hired and keep on searching their abilities, and their favors take over eighty four percents, the main parts of business hours, as a result. These examples have been too much to count. It is not too much to say that there are proofs of this system which employees can always challenge their possibilities. When we shift hobbies to business, our style is that to be considerable to the customers is natural. We convince that customers should be satisfied with our products and services and that there must be the people who have same business style as us somewhere in this world. I have traveled around the world and have met various types of people with holding the beliefs that I described above. Our messages have been sent to all over the world as products and services. The theories of Mars Corporation

'If I define our business in a word, that is the incubation.'
-Mars Corporation is the company that tries to practice the theory of dissipative structure.
On a theory, we are the company that employees focus on the self-organization as the description in the theory of dissipative structure. We try to make it possible with testing the theory of Iriya Prigozine. The system of Mars Corporation is concentrated on practicing three formulas; open, dynamic, and positive feedback, cited from his theory. If we perform them, the self- organization is occurred spontaneously. That is a phenomenon that is changed from non-organized system to the ruled one through actions which are not constrained by stereotypes. I will dwell on our four primary theories next.
The four primary theories of Mars Corporation
There's the word, stakeholder. In company's management, other companies generally have the idea that stockholders are the most important, but Mars Corporation propels the concept that we try to make all persons who relate to us satisfy.
SS (Stakeholders' Satisfaction) Mind.
SS means all satisfactions of stakeholders, and it is the magnificent concept that we take actions to get stockholders, employees, customers, environment, and even countries and the earth satisfied. This idea may be just natural...

It is warned that we must not miss the human relationships because the internet is widely spread today and because we are at a risk of being crazy about the virtual reality. We have been acting not only on the world wide public relation via internet but also on traveling around the world; we call this series of actions, 'World Tour' and 'Japan Tour.' We bridge the gap of E-mail through direct conversation and get acquainted with many people. The internet is just the avenue to make triggers for seeing various kinds of people. DNA System
Our theory is that a company cannot be maintained even if one charismatic person was there. DNA System is that individualities are mixed one another and a new style of business is born there. One member suggests a primary design of new business, and this will be made more concrete one through discussing with other members. All what we create are the new lives which are improved twice to make the quality higher like jamming in a band. Our every business is always performed in a team so that we can controvert each other and can move business ahead with each objective point of view in case of troubles.
The Rule of Sixteen Percents
Sixteen percents of our business hour are available on the employees' personal tastes; this system is the dynamic one. We trust that ideas which are not constrained by stereotypes are related to new products and new type of service and that this will be the energy of propelling the company. Our ideas that have been searching since the establishment are being got deeper and are being got more complex. 3M Company, USA, calls this system as Bootleg, and it is said that they have created a lot on it. We established Mars Corporation with the theory that to keep on doing what we want to do makes Mars Corporation itself more attractive, so we have been practicing this system since establishment.

14, January, 2000 It's big river (Osaka, Japan)
That was the presentation in the chaos of Japanese Bit Valley. Our presentation which was titled, 'we will go to the overseas market with T-shirts', may be strange for other IT companies. We used to be asked why your company held a presentation here. Our T-shirts were born from the wide spreading of internetc This one was at my first time of represent, so it was not a good performance.
29, May, 2000 'Business Strategy' presented by NASDAQ Japan Club (Osaka, Japan)
I was informed that the first presentation contest in Osaka is presented by NASDAQ, and I determined to take part in this contest. I held the presentation in the preliminary contest judged by Mr. Kuroda; NASDAQ Japan and was chosen the first representative presentation company. Our presentation was published by many news papers, and I was so glad to see the name, Mars Corporation in news papers. Some other companies held presentations that day, but we are the only company was published in newspapers. Half parts of repetition were 'I could not understand what you talked.' Everybody should have understood my eagerness for business. Here was also the first place where I explained about the software, 'Mars 3rd Avenue.' We have begun to be questioned, 'Weren't you the company of T-shirts business?' since this presentation.

That was my first presentation in English. I dwelled on Mars theory of dissipative structure, but it was too hard to communicate with the people there because of the lack of my oral skills. I study English and want to hold the presentation there again.
January, 01 Battle Talk, 'What is Mars Corporation?' (Sendai, Japan)
I explained the structure of Mars Corporation there. In fact, the presentation with same kind of contents was held at the professor Ikeda, Aizu University one day before this battle talk, so I improved the contents a little bit for people who came to listen to my presentation both two days. The reasons why Mars Corporation can challenge new business in a row were cleared, but you don't probably understand what I said without same kinds of our experiences. A lot of students were interested in my presentation. I felt glad their responses.
6, July, 01 'The second meeting of business strategy' presented by the academic meeting group of Kansai venture companies
A VC came from America to listen to the explanation of our broadband software, but I talked about Mars Corporation in Japanese at the first half of that. He had gone back in my first half. It had been a long time since the last presentation in Osaka. In this performance, I could feel that my communication skill was getting better. The experiment of our original broadband software, 'Speak Freely' was impossible because a cell phone for connecting to the internet was not available.

All repetitions in feedback sheets were filled out, 'Your talking was beneficial for me.' The presentation about the internet phone via broadband went well. I enjoyed this presentation.
20, November, 01 Antre Planner Contest 2001 Grand Final (Osaka, Japan)
Although there was little hour for my turn, I could enjoy so much. FII that was the company which used to take part in a series of presentations with us was there, so I talked with them, 'something strange, you know?' and so on. Companies which hold interesting presentations have been getting more, so I can enjoy watching their presentations.
